Post subject:  Brake Parts List

I'm just finishing up the brake job on my 1960 Fireflite and thought I would share some info with every one. At first I thought about doing a front disc brake conversion but due to time and money constraints I decided against it. I was able to source all of my parts thru rockauto.com. Check out their search function, you will need to search by part number and manufacturer. Here is a parts list with prices, hopefully this will save someone some time and frustration.

BRAKE SHOES

Manufacturer: Centric

Part Number: 11100850

Price: $34.79 +shipping

These are brand new shoes not relines and they were identical to the ones that I took off the car. There are four shoes included in the box (enough to do 1 axle) I tried to order these from Centric directly but they only sell to distributors. There is about a 2 day wait from RockAuto since they have to order them from Centric.

WHEEL CYLINDERS

Manufacturer: Dorman

Part Numbers:

Right Front Upper: W32552
Price: 34.79 +shipping

Right Front Lower: W32554
Price: 25.79 +shipping

Left Front Upper: W32551
Price: 34.79 +shipping

Left Front Lower: W32553
Price: 25.79 +shipping

Rear (right or left): W32555
Price: 32.79 + shipping

They come assembled and ready to go on the car. I tried to rebuild the ones that I had on the car and in the end had two that would not seal. Rather than fight them any more I ordered all new ones.

I hope this helps some one out there!

This is useful info and I think more of us should report on their successes on projects like this. Thank you for sharing. This is what the website could be used for more often.

Thanks for sharing this information. As you have discovered, you can still find quite a few parts for our old DeSotos if you 1) have a part number, either current or obsolete and / or 2) have a reasonably competent parts counter person. Good job!
