Petter,

I'm no expert on U.S. political memorabilia but can offer this insight. Richard Nixon was Vice President to President Dwight "Ike" Eisenhower; Ike was the Republican party President from 1952 - 1960. Nixon ran for President in 1960 as Ike could serve no more than two terms. Nixon lost the election to Democrat John F. Kennedy (JKF) in November, 1960. My guess from looking at the button suggests it is from the 1960 election, which fits the era of your car.

Nixon resurrected his political career and ran again for President in 1968 and won the election. He was reelected to a second term in 1972 but was soon caught up in the Watergate scandal that rocked Washington and left office in disgrace before his second term exprired.

We'll have a test on this Friday

Petter, I am not going into the politics of this, but I would put the button on ebay. Just to add a little history, Nixon was President when in 1973(maybe 74) he sent US forces into Cambodia during the Vietnam war. Colleges across the US went out on strike including mine. I wanted the education I was paying for. Somewhere in there was Watergate which did him in. The button could be from a very notable US election.

Petter...more correctly, Nixon was noted for his statement "I am not a 'crook'!", which was most likely a "crock"!

Yes, i found out on the web that there is different spelling on this word.
I don`t know what`s right, but his was a crook or crock anyway. :)
Paul.
I am not going to put this on E-bay because i am a small collector of this kind of curiosa from the 50`s and 60`s.
I will also add that here in Norway we are pretty updated when it comes to US politic and other that going on over there.
Petter.

That is hilarious Petter. I did not notice as Mark did that you spelled crook as crock. I just automatically read it as crook.
It is a good piece of memorabilia.
