I recently overhauled the engine on my 50 desoto and I am getting coolant leaks from a couple of the holes where the exaust bolts to the engine. Is there any secret to getting this to stop leaking?

Thanks,
John

John, I have a 53. My experience is there are studs that go into water jackets or coolant galleys. This is not unique to old Desotos. It can occur on almost any car. I am not sure if I have run into this on intake studs or not. I am thinking I have not. You need to take the whole manifold off and start fresh. You may be able to get away with using the old manifold gasket but I would not recommend it. Anyhow, use Permatex Aviation Form a Gasket on the threads of the studs and let it sit a day or two and you will be all set.Do it neatly - do not slobber it all over the place. Neat full coverage will work well.
