Hi All,

I have a 56 Flireflite VIN #62049762, paint 382, trim 556. I just purchased it and drove it home. I am going to spend lots of time with it and I am really excited. I am rounding up parts for a long winter freshening-up. I am looking for interior pictures...someone redid the seats and headliner in a off-white fabric and it is horrid and not correct. The seat fabric is gone but the door panels are intact and that is helpful. I have samples from SMS and I am looking for pictures to identify what fabric goes where.

Regards,
Rex

The Club Store has the Oil Pump Rebuild
Kit for the 1956-1957 engine. It is priced
at a lower price than all commercial vendors
who sell the same part.

Next year at the Annual Convention in Reno
( third week of July 2011) you just may find
some parts for your car that will help you.

If the parts are not there, leads to parts and
some very fine examples of what to do to your
car will be there.

Congratulations on your new purchase. From the information provided, your car is a Fireflite four door sedan which was produced with a Dutch Blue lower color and a white top. If it has a color sweep the sweep would be white. The upholstery fabrics and designs were different on the four door sedans from those on the two and four door hardtops and convertibles. Your 556 trim code was for a blue cloth combination with blue vinyl. The headliner would have been made of vinyl and probably would have been a lighter color blue which may also be on your door panels. I can post a picture of my green vinyl headliner in my 55 Fireflite if needed.

I have attached pictures from the 1956 DeSoto sales brochure which show the 4 door sedan interior and the fabric swatches for all models. Hopefully someone can confirm that these represent those that were actually produced.

Thank you all for the information. This morning I purchased an Owners Manual on ebay and hope to see some more examples of interiors. I will be sure to make Reno in July and will have a shopping list with me.

Rex

The Owner's Manual and the Factory Service Manual
are very nice to have, but they do not show the differant
colours, the differant seat patterns/designs or body
trims.

The 1956 Parts Book does and the 1956 Dealers
Brochure does. You may contact the Club's Librarian
to get a copy of the Dealers Brochure.

If you show your email address to site users, someone
may scan and email you what you are asking. 8)

Thanks Rodger/Gabby,

I will do as you suggest and my email is:
rex.calladine@comcast.net any interior information will be appreciated. I am a fair old school mechanic and can repair most of the car but need to arm the upholsterer with as much information as I can find.
