Hello everyone,

I purchased a 1953 Firedome sedan last year, and soon after joined the club(love the newsletter). I also own a 1976 Dodge Dart Sport(spirit of 76), and recently sold my "75" Duster. So as a Mopar man I was happy to buy my first Hemi. I'll be doing a light restoration project this winter, and want to know the original color of the engine. The engine is currently painted red, if it's not original someone did a good job. Would also like to know who restores the woodlike upper door panels and dash.

Rod

Every engine of the MoPar Family was a Chrysler Silver if the vehicle
was sold in the US until the end of the 1957 Production year, if it had
a two bbl Carb.

For all 2 bbl'd V8's the lettering in the middle of the Valve Tappet
Cover's is Black.

At ReNo in Juy at the National Convention you will be able to see
others all painted the same way.

Rodger has it right. In fact the torque converter housing and transmission are also silver. The water pump and pulley are also silver. The paint can be bought in spray cans at a Chrysler dealer.
It is actually Aluminum P4529148.

The fan, fan shroud, radiator, generator, air filter, and oil breather cap are black.

There are a number of vendors available to restore the woodgraining in your car, and we are among them.

You can do a google search on woodgraining and come up with a number of choices. We'd be happy to be of help!

Rod, if you need any help with the 53 -I have a 53 and we can get yours very nice. Also, Tim Bowers has done a lot of research and work to come up with a good way to do the dash and the upper part of the doors. It is not easy.
