So, we now have a very leaky 58 year old heater core seeping with the first hint of cool weather. Finding a replacement isn't looking too promising without applying for a 2nd mortgage. Any sources, supplier, magic bullet or suggestions from those who've gone through this. I'm currently looking at a $635 option on Ebay. Yikes.

Have you tried stop leak? It worked on my '69 Charger. You could also check with a radiator shop and see if they can repair it.

Good luck!

I'll check with our local radiator shop for rebuild suggestions. I learned my lesson with stop leak years ago. It can become "stop flow" in rads, heaters and cyl heads. I just had the radiator recored so I may as well crack open the heater box and make it work properly.

Try an old time radiator shop. I had a 56 Plymouth heater core redone for a friend. Cost was about $200.

The last core I had done was also in the $200 range if I recall correctly. I have a new core on the shelf for a '55/56 because of an order redundancy. Pretty sure out of the $200 price, half of it was the core.
