Here are a few photos of Kim Forster's 1959 DeSoto Firedome 4-door hardtop. I took these photos at the 2017 National Cherry Festival old town car show in Traverse City, Michigan on July 2. Kim is an NDC member. He told me that the car came from Colorado. Kim's car was the only DeSoto at the show, and it was hard to get good photos because of the people inspecting it! Here is a left front quarter photo:

Here is a shot of the dashboard. Notice that this car is equipped with factory air conditioning.

Kim was proud to open the hood and show off the engine in his car. Notice the bellows-type power brake booster with the tank on the fender, and the V-2 air conditioning compressor. Kim said the A/C didn't work. It is pretty difficult to make A/C work on these older cars. They were designed for use with R12 refrigerant, and the thermal expansion valve used in them only works with R12. You can see the thermal expansion valve near the cowl with the capillary tube running inside to the evaporator.

Here is a right side under-hood photo. Notice the large vibration damper on the compressor hub. Nice car Kim!
